Welcome back, Razzitos!

It is time for your weekly fantasy baseball injury report here at Razzball. This is the last preseaon edition of Ambulance Chasers, and I hope you will use what you have learned here to go forth and conquer.

Saddle up and/or strap in, friends!

What are the latest injury updates?

Jacob deGrom (SP): Well, it was great while lasted. DeGrom experienced a stress reaction in his scapula (shoulder). He will be out for at least 4 weeks.

Riley Greene (OF): took a pitch from Gerrit Cole to the foot. Greene stayed on base and ran to score. However, he limped off the field after the third inning. Greene is still being evaluated, and it was last reported that he needed x-rays. Depending on the severity of his injury, Eric De La Rose and Victor Reyes might find themselves with different or more playing time.

Derek Hill (OF): Derek Hill, who was doing well for a hot minute as Riley Green’s replacement, has been moved to the IL with a strained hamstring. He is questionable for Opening Day, but the injury is expected to only sideline Hill for days (rather than weeks).

Andrew Chafin (RP): Annnnd the other new addition to the Tiger Town IL. Chafin is out with a strained groin and is questionable for Opening Day.

Andrew Vaughn (1B/OF): Vaughn, who has served a number of rolls, came out of spring training with a bruised hip pointer (pelvis). Vaugh is currently questionable for Opening Day and expected to be out another week. He has been participating in infield drills, which is good news for White Sox fans and those who drafted him. However, you hopefully will not see Andrew Vaughn in the right field as much as Adam Engel returns and the White Sox trade for AJ Pollack.

Garrett Crochet (RP): While the White Sox received AJ Pollack to help with outfield woes, they traded away Craig Kimbrel to the Dodgers. The same day, Garrett Crochet left a spring training game with elbow discomfort. Early reports indicate that Crochet will need Tommy John surgery. Oof.

Evan Longoria (3B): Longoria has experienced a flair up in an old finger wound. He is undergoing ligament repair (finger) on Tuesday. Longoria is expected to return in mid-May. Wilmer Flores is expected to play for Longoria.

LaMonte Wade Jr. (OFF): In another hit to the Giants line-up, LaMonte Wade Jr. will likely miss Opening Day with knee inflammation and bone bruising. Longoria and Wade are added to the list with Brandon Belt and Tommy La Stella.

Mike Zunino (C): Zunino experienced some shoulder discomfort. However, he has been working out and should be ready for Opening Day.

Jordan Luplow (OF/1B): Luplow is out with grade 1 oblique strain. While no official timetable was shared, this type of injury usually results in a 4-6 week stint on the IL.

Ehire Adrianza (INF/OF): Ehire Adrianza is on the IL with a strained quad sustained while running down the right baseline. As the injury is so close to Opening Day, Adrianza is questionable. The Nats will most likely play Dee Strange-Gordon in place of Adrianza.

Jordan Romano (RP): In completely relatable injury news, Jordan Romano sprained his ankle while walking his dog. Romano is now questionable for Opening Day, but Romano will probably be okay.

Evan White (1B): Evan White is out with a sports hernia and surgery. There is no timetable for his return.

Donovan Solano (INF): Solano will miss Opening Day with a strained hamstring after running around bases. Solano was chosen as the Reds back up shortstop and joins the long list of injured Reds including Jose Barrero, Mike Minor, and Luis Castillo. The good news is that Solano, Minor, and Castillo are expected to return relatively soon.

Pete Fairbanks (RP): Fairbanks is on the IL with a strained lat. Due to the difficult recovery of his injury, he is currently questionable for the first half of 2022. BIG OOF.

Anthony Alford (OF): Alford is considered day-to-day with hand discomfort. He is questionable for Opening Day. This is a big blow to the Pirates, but luckily, Alford’s injury is not considered serious.

Ken Giles (RP): Giles is out with finger discomfort due to a tendon issue in his right middle finger. Giles will likely be out for weeks (not days) with no timetable for return.

Luke Maile (C): Maile is out with a strained hamstring. He is expected to return in 3-4 weeks. In the interim, Bryan Lavastida is expected to serve as the backup catcher until Maile is back.

Deolis Guerra (RP): Guerra was initially out with forearm tightness. However, he sought out a second opinion and is moving forward with surgery. There is no timetable for his return. He was expected to be one of the As top setup players this season.

Sam Coonrod (RP): Coonrod will be out with a strained shoulder, but it should only be for about 5-7 days. Unfortunately, this means Coonrod will miss Opening Day.

Good lord. Do you have any other information?

Yes, I have a quick run down for you.

Luis Urias (INF): Still injured and recovering slowly.

Mike Minor (SP): Doing a lot better.

Shane Baz (SP): Expected to return in May.

Chris Sale (SP): Hurt but healing.

Starling Marte (OF): Back in action this week after straining his oblique.
